BOOKS
All The Living And The Dead takes place at the North American University of Fine Arts that straddles two countries, the United States and Canada. Autumn Gilhain hopes that being a founding member of a student artistic society will give her music and her life direction, since both are floundering. At the same time, Quinn Gravesend, the greatest composer of the 20th century, suspects his career and creativity are drawing to a close. Over the course of nine months, Autumn and her fellow artists collide with Gravesend.
The characters struggle with their hopes and fears and eventually discover that only others can release them from the traps they've set for themselves.

All The Living And The Dead follows a group of college students, self-defined "Romantics," as they form a society devoted to artistic genius, but Kenyon's ambitious book is a quest-narrative disguised as an academic novel. He dares to take on the impossible question: What drives us to make art? His characters pursue their daemons, disrupt each other's lives, and face their ghosts, and ultimately find that the answer is quite natural: Life drives us. A beautiful, profound book.

Joseph Kenyon's All The Living And The Dead takes place at the North American University of Fine Arts that straddles two countries, the United States and Canada, just as all the characters straddle two worlds between life and death and birth and decay. Quinn Gravesend is the aging professor and musical genius who has lost the will to create because of personal loss and tragedy. He reluctantly becomes involved with The Societe de l'Espirit Artistique. These are students at the very beginning of their lives, passionate and stubborn. At the heart of this group is Autumn, a young woman that terrifies and inspires Gravesend. This is a story about art, the ways that art can save and destroy and inspire. But it is also a love story that does not focus on the happily ever after but accepting the mysterious cycles of birth and decay with grace, dignity, and wit.
